Your Session Experience

Here is exactly what happens — from the moment you walk in.

No surprises. No confusion. Just a clear, calm experience designed around your comfort and your outcomes.

Step by Step

Your first session, step by step.

1

Initial Consultation

Before your first session, a member of our clinical team reviews your health history, current medications, and goals. This takes 15–20 minutes and ensures your programme is designed for you specifically — not a generic plan.

2

Preparing for the Session

You will be asked to wear comfortable, loose clothing — cotton is ideal. Avoid perfumes, oil-based products, and synthetic fabrics on session days. No special diet is required, though we recommend eating a light meal beforehand and staying hydrated.

3

Entering the Chamber

The chamber is clean, well-lit, and designed for comfort. Depending on the model at your centre, you may sit or recline. Many clients bring a book, listen to music, or use the session to simply rest. There is nothing to do except breathe normally.

4

Pressurisation

The session begins with a gentle pressurisation phase — typically 10 to 15 minutes. You may feel a slight pressure sensation in your ears, similar to what you experience in an aeroplane or when descending in a lift. Our team will show you a simple equalisation technique before your first session — most clients adapt quickly.

5

The Therapy Window

Once the target pressure is reached, your session is fully underway. This is where the therapeutic work happens. Duration varies by protocol — typically 60 to 90 minutes. Your chamber has a viewing window, and our team is always nearby.

6

Depressurisation

At the end of the session, pressure is gently reduced over 10 to 15 minutes. You simply continue resting. There is no abrupt change, no discomfort.

7

Post-Session

Most clients step out feeling refreshed, calm, and noticeably clearer. Some feel a gentle tiredness — this is normal and typically passes within an hour. You can drive, return to work, and continue normal activities immediately.

Client Experiences

In your own words — what clients actually report.

I expected it to feel clinical and uncomfortable. It was more like a nap I came out of feeling ten years younger.

— Member, Recovery Programme

The first session I was nervous. By the third, I looked forward to it. It became the calmest hour of my week.

— Athlete, Sports Recovery Programme

My doctor had given up on my wound. After 14 sessions here, it had closed by more than half. I still can’t fully explain it.

Programme Guide

Results build. Here is how to think about your programme.

HBOT is a therapy that compounds over time. A single session delivers benefit — but the real transformation happens over a course of sessions, as your body progressively responds and repairs. The right number of sessions depends entirely on your goal and your starting point.

Goal Typical Sessions Duration
Injury recovery support10–20 sessions2–4 weeks
Sports performance enhancement10–20 sessions2–4 weeks
Diabetic wound healing20–40 sessions4–8 weeks
Post-surgery healing support15–30 sessions3–6 weeks

Your HBOTLAB team will recommend a programme length during your initial consultation. There is no pressure to commit to a full programme upfront. We start with what makes sense and adjust as we see how you respond.

Common Questions

Practical questions — answered honestly.

Can I use my phone during the session?
Electronic devices are generally not permitted inside the chamber due to the oxygen-enriched environment. Most clients use the session as a break from screens — many say this is one of the unexpected benefits.
What if I feel claustrophobic?
Our team will walk you through the chamber before your first session and let you get comfortable at your own pace. The chambers are well-lit and have a clear viewing window. Most people who expect claustrophobia find the experience more comfortable than anticipated. If needed, we can do a short acclimatisation session before starting your programme.
Can I bring a family member?
Absolutely. Family members are welcome to wait at the centre. For children undergoing therapy, a parent or guardian is present throughout.
Can I eat before a session?
Yes — a light meal 1–2 hours before is ideal. Avoid heavy, fatty meals immediately before a session. Stay well hydrated.
Is there anything I cannot do before a session?
Avoid alcohol in the 24 hours before a session. If you are unwell with an active respiratory infection, inform our team — they may advise postponing until you recover.
